Portuguese Party for the Animals participating in municipal elections
The Portuguese Party for the Animals, Pessoas-Animais-Natureza (People-Animals-Nature, PAN in short), is preparing for the exciting municipal elections in Portugal, which will take place on 1 October of this year. The party will participate in 32 municipalities and 26 districts. “This is major. These are the biggest elections we have ever participated in, in terms of communication and logistics,” says PAN advisor Francisco Guerreiro.

PAN already has one seat in Portugal’s national parliament and one in a regional parliament. Now the party wishes to continue its work on a local level. “We have seen that people support us and our vision,” explains Guerreiro. PAN is fighting for greater involvement of citizens in local politics, and for integrated political solutions to the protection and welfare of people, animals and nature. One of the PAN candidates for the municipal elections is Inês de Sousa Real, who is hoping to gain a seat in the City Council of Lisbon.
