New Zealand welcomes a new political party for animal rights: the Animal Justice Party Aotearoa New Zealand!
A more compassionate New Zealand (or Aotearoa as the Māori call the country) for all just got closer. Animal Justice Party Aotearoa New Zealand (AJPANZ) is officially a registered political party. This milestone marks a significant step in advocating for animal rights and promoting a plant-based economy in New Zealand.
AJPANZ was incorporated in November 2022 and is now an officially registered political party. With this new party on the ballot, dedicated to advocating for the rights, welfare and protection of animals, voters can now be the voice of animals and contribute to the advancement of animal welfare and sustainability. Its mission is to create a society in which animals are treated with respect, compassion, and consideration. Through active participation in the political landscape, the party aims to drive policy changes that reflect its commitment to a more ethical and sustainable future.
And now, after the party’s registration, a new challenge awaits: On 14 October 2023, general elections will be held in New Zealand (Aotearoa). In these elections, AJPANZ will be running a diverse group of candidates that reflects the party’s commitment to inclusivity, intergenerational representations, and a shared vision for a more compassionate future. "We are thrilled to announce our diverse and dedicated team of candidates for the upcoming election," said Anna Rippon, AJPANZ Policy President, and a candidate. "Our party is committed to fostering a society in which every voice is heard.”
Following its official registration, the party is now eligible to receive public funding to amplify its message of compassion, equality, and non-violence, and engage with a broader audience that shares the vision of a kinder and more sustainable world.
